Dear Dad,                                               August 8, 2007 Some army people came to the door today. They made Mom cry really hard, and she kept repeating "Not Dave, it can't be Dave." One red eye glares at me from across the intersection. I am content with where I am. That road up ahead is not for me, but where I came from is not a place for me anymore. I wait for nothing particular as that red eye glares. Sitting and waiting without thought is an impossibility for me so I dream of the road that I could never travel. I sit and watch The birds fly by With sunshine on their wings. They twitter and shout Through the sapphire sky Frolicking here and there. I wish with all my soul I could join their jubilee, But I am stuck within this place Never to be revealed.
